What is Mask Acne?

Maskacne or mask acne, is the name of the acne breakouts and irritation caused by constantly
wearing a face mask.

Dermatologically, it is known as friction acne and believe it or not, it is a common type of
acne that can occur to everyone, even to people who have never had acne in their lifes.

How is it caused?

When you speak or breathe while wearing your mask, it tends to trap the hot air you exhale, added to the fact that the skin breathes less due to the mask. Heat and sweat complete the ideal environment for the pores to get clogged, giving more opportunity for bacteria to stay in the skin causing the appearance of acne.

5 ways to avoid it

1.

Avoid using heavy creams, makeup and products that contain a high level of oils. They will only cause your pores to clog more. When using a face mask, try to use makeup only in your eyes and eyebrows if you wish, this will highlight your look and your skin will stay fresh and healthy underneath the face mask.

2.

Clean your skin at least twice a day with a proper cleansing face product. We recommend using the Dermo-Clean Micellar Solution, ideal for all skin types, especially for sensitive skin. It removes make-up and impurities, revealing a clean, hydrated and fresh skin.

3.

Daily reminder! Change or wash your face mask. To disinfect reusable masks, first soak them in boiling water and then put them in the washing machine. You can also easily disinfect them with an alcohol spray, applying it to the inside and outside of the mask.

4.

Exfoliate your skin once or twice a week. This will remove dead cells and oxygenate the skin. Have you tried our Dead Sea Mud Mask? It reduces and prevents the appearance of acne, blackheads and oiliness.

5.

Don’t forget to refresh your skin and drink at least 8 glasses of water during the day. Your skin will appreciated.
